SMALL MERCIES is a captivating and thought-provoking exploration of family, redemption, and the moral complexities of human nature. The story takes place in Boston in the summer of 1974. When Mary Pat’s teenage daughter Jules goes missing, she's determined to find her and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.
This book is a violent one. If you're okay with that, I promise you will enjoy it. Mary Pat Fennessy is a total badass.
MY RATING: ★★★★★
NIGHT FILM is an atmospheric thriller that follows investigative journalist Scott McGrath as he delves into the mysterious world of filmmaker Stanislas Cordova and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his daughter's death. Pessl expertly crafts a chilling atmosphere, blurring the lines between reality and fiction. The book is a long one. And I didn't enjoy it as much as Pessl's first novel Special Topics in Calamity Physics. But the immersive and haunting writing pulled me into the story and kept me hooked.
